Privacy notice

Driftwise Travel provides free travel guides for Bangkok, Phuket, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, an optional reader-support page, and a separate paid scenic-artwork shop. You do not need to register or pay to read the travel guides. We do not place advertising cookies.

Search, saved places and the budget tool

Destination searches and filters run in your browser. Saved destinations are stored in that browser's local storage; they are not uploaded as an account collection or automatically synced between browsers or devices. You can remove a saved destination using its save button, or clear all saved places by clearing this site's browser data. In private browsing or when storage is unavailable, saved places may not persist.

Budget figures are calculated in the page and are not submitted to our server by the calculator. Search terms, saved destinations and budget entries are not sent as custom analytics events. The share button copies the current guide link to your clipboard when you choose it; it does not send a message to anyone.

Website hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, and request logs to operate and secure the service. Refer to Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.

Privacy-first website measurement

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, referral sources, and website performance. Cloudflare describes this service as cookie-free and states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data or track individual users across customer websites. Query-string values are not included in its analytics logs. Refer to Cloudflare Web Analytics for details.

Some pages load typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may receive technical request information when those files are loaded. Refer to Google’s privacy policy for details.

Interactive map

The Bangkok guide and interactive Phuket map load map tiles from OpenStreetMap so visitors can inspect relevant roads, coastlines and districts. OpenStreetMap may receive technical request information such as your IP address and website referrer when map tiles load. Map data is credited to OpenStreetMap contributors and is used under the Open Database License. Refer to OpenStreetMap copyright and licensing and the OSM Foundation privacy policy.

Optional support and artwork payments

If you choose to make a voluntary tip when that option is available, or purchase a scenic artwork download, checkout is hosted by Stripe. The payment provider processes the information needed for your transaction. For Managed Payments transactions, Link acts as merchant of record and handles payment, indirect tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and transaction-support data under the Stripe privacy policy and Link privacy policy. Driftwise Travel does not receive or store full card details.

A tip is optional and does not create a requirement to sign in or share payment information to read a guide. Artwork purchases are separate from reader support.

Order support

We may receive information needed to fulfil or support a transaction, such as your name, email address, payment status, and support messages. We use it for artwork delivery where relevant, payment support, refunds, fraud prevention, record-keeping, and legal compliance.

Existing reader accounts

Accounts associated with previous guide purchases remain available, but an account is no longer required to read a guide. Existing account records include the normalized email, a one-way password hash, purchased-edition entitlements, and secure sign-in sessions. We do not store readable passwords. If you use account sign-in, its necessary secure, HTTP-only cookie keeps you signed in and is not used for advertising.

Your browser's saved-destination list is separate from these account records. Signing in does not automatically upload or sync that list.

Retention and sharing

We keep order and support records only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers or authorities when necessary to operate the service or comply with law.

Your choices

You may request access, correction, or deletion where applicable. Some transaction records may need to be retained for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.
